Mesa United Way's vehicle donation program is an easy, convenient way to receive a tax deduction while benefiting Mesa's less fortunate residents. We accept most vehicles-even if they don't run-although some restrictions may apply on older vehicles. We also accept trucks, trailers, boats and RVs.
For donating please call (480) 969-8601 and ask to speak to Linda. Linda will ask you for information regarding the vehicle, and fax it to Car Program LLC, our program partner. Please plan to provide the title to the vehicle; if you do not have the title, please let us know when you call with your donation.
Car Program LLC will contact you within three or four business days and arrange the date of your pickup. If you need your car picked up sooner, please let Bonnie know, as she may be able to make special arrangements. Your vehicle will be towed by a professionally licensed, bonded, insured towing company.
All necessary donor and tax documents for the IRS will be provided to you by Car Program LLC. The IRS allows a tax deduction of the value of your vehicle up to $500. If they sell the vehicle for more than $500, they will send you a postcard with that value for your tax purposes. For additional information, the IRS provides Publication 4303 - A Donor's Guide to Car Donations, which sets forth IRS requirements for determine the value of your donated property.
Proceeds from Mesa United Way's vehicle donation program benefit the Community Care Fund, which ensures core services for children, the disabled, seniors and those experiencing unforeseen hardships here in Mesa.
