In order to raise much-needed revenue from people in our community, Mesa United Way must eliminate any real or perceived barriers to participation. We've heard some people express hesitation to donate to United Way because the organization's overhead is "too high." Although Mesa United Way's administrative expenses are about 10%, which is very low by charitable standards, the misperception has lived on.
To address the problem, we established the Corporate Cornerstone program, which allows corporations, foundations and small businesses to direct their annual corporate gift toward underwriting our administrative expenses. Because our Cornerstone Companies cover our overhead, 100% of donations go directly to services.
Corporate Cornerstone companies receive a variety of promotional benefits, depending on the level at which they participate.
