WHO WE ARE
Every community wants a safe place for children to play and the knowledge that our most vulnerable residents won't go to bed hungry, cold, afraid, or without shelter. Mesa United Way's goal is to ensure a local safety net of core services for children, the disabled, elderly, and those experiencing unforeseen hardships. Our services range from after-school programs to children's shelters, food banks, and more. The programs we fund create the fabric of a healthy and livable community.
WHAT WE DO
Contributions are invested carefully in programs proven to work. Mesa United Way focuses on five areas of need:
Food, Shelter, & Safety:
Ensuring hungry families receive food boxes, children are clothed and fed, and abused women and children find a shelter safe from violence.
Growing Strong Children:
Ensuring Mesa youth develop important social and educational skills through quality after-school services, mentoring programs, parenting skills, and leadership training.
Special Needs and Disabilities:
Providing the tools- physical and emotional therapy, technology, job training, for children and families with special needs to lead independent, productive, and meaningful lives.
Caring for the Elderly:
Allowing elderly adults to maintain self-sufficiency and dignity within their own homes, develop quality social networks and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Safe and Stable Neighborhoods:
Improving the community- neighborhood by neighborhood so that Mesa families can improve the appearance of their neighborhood and make areas safe for their children to play.
